The University of Texas at Arlington College of Business held the 3rd Annual Finance and Real Estate Employer’s and Organization’s Week from Monday, September 30th to Thursday, October 3rd, 2024.

While many students within the College of Business gain valuable skills and knowledge throughout their studies at UTA, opportunities to network, gain knowledge of businesses and employers, and interact directly with them help them direct the skills they learn toward prosperous employment after graduation.

The week allowed employers and organizations to set up tables at the College of Business to speak with students, advertise their businesses, recruit, and give information about their organizations. While the week was geared toward showing students employment and internships opportunities, the event benefited all parties involved.

“I describe it as a sort of job fair. But a normal job fair might be three or four hours; what we do is spread it across an entire week,” said Andy Hansz, UTA College of Business Finance and Real Estate professor. “Employers get to see students in their natural habitat, and students get to spend more time asking questions about jobs and opportunities. The entire idea is to get employers on campus, let them hang out, network with students, and hopefully form connections.”

Organizations that attended the event and met with students found the chance to engage with the next generation of the workforce invaluable when it came to the future of sourcing talent. While many companies were able to set up informational displays on tables around the College of Business, some hosted luncheons for a more relaxed and directed conversation with students.

“The events are very necessary for the growth in the extracurricular dynamic in the university. They help by getting students connected with what’s going on outside of class,” said Elias Muludiki, Finance and Marketing senior. “Another aspect is that networking is promoted organically with other students, professors & distinguished individuals because they are all in the same environment.”

The companies that attended the week consisted of RFP Homes, Onyx Legacy Realty LLC, Capital Asset Advisors, Frost Bank, CCIM North Texas Chapter, Fidelity Investments, National Credit Union Administration, Comerica Bank, Federated Insurance, PGIM Real Estate, Capital Asset Advisors, GM Financial, Gartner, Woodbine Commercial, and Santander.

The event is held annually, and many new and returning companies and organizations are excited to return each year to showcase their businesses to students.

“I love hearing about students’ connection with our employers and seeing where they go with them,” said Hansz. “I get a little competitive, and I like our students’ getting opportunities that other universities don’t necessarily offer. I feel so proud of our students when they land a job or intern with these companies.”
